Ancient Orkney

Today we drove west across the island from Kirkwall to around Stromness to see ancient Orkney.  Here we saw examples of Neolithic life (think 5, 000 years ago).
Standing Stones of Stenness
Older than Stonehenge by about 1,000 years

Skara Brae-the best preserved Neolithic village in Northern
Europe.  The village lay hidden under sand for about
4,000 years.
