Ferry to Kirkwall, Orkneys

This was our ferry over from the tip of Scotland to the Orkney's.

This is an area called Scapa Flow . After the Armistice of World War I, 74 ships of the German High Seas Fleet were ordered into Scapa Flow to be held while negotiations on the surrender continued. They remained for 10 months, becoming a tourist attraction but as the signing of the formal surrender approached, the German commander sank all 74 ships rather than see them fall under British control.  Now it is a scuba divers paradise.

Another sunken ship.
