Fionn Bheinn, Auchnasheen (Our hike today)

Today we hiked Fionn Bheinn, which is Gaelic for White Mountain.  It is one of the Munros which is what they call a mountain over 3,000 feet in Scotland.  The weather wasn't bad when we first set out but deteriorated as we carried on to the summit.

Yellow Mountain Saxifrage

White tailed deer

Beautiful stone wall up on the moutain.
We hid from the wind on the far side
and had our picnic.  The hotel had made us
sandwiches which were delicious.

View at the summit.  There is a cairn up here somewhere.

Ptarmigan up on the mountain.

Herd of mountain deer.  Took off like a shot when they
heard us coming.

View from the top

Bog plants.  There is actually a ton of colour up on the
mountains.

Rob checking for our trail.

Our hotel from partway up the mountain.

Sheep being herded for shearing at the farm below.

A little two car train that serves this area.
