Battle of Culloden

Today we headed southeast past Inverness and stopped at the Battle of Culloden fields.  This was a battle where the Highlanders got slaughtered by the British and Bonny Prince Charlie escaped west to Skye and then onto to France.
Gaelic is awesome.  No idea how anything is pronounced.

Culloden field and monument

Atholl was one of the clans on the side of Bonny Prince Charlie.
It is also Rob's clan which makes him an Atholl!

Blue lines were the highlanders.

Monument to the battle.

The clans that all came together were buried together.

More clan headstones.

The National Trust Culloden museum.

Red flags denoted the British line of troops.

More Gaelic.
